ABOUT THE GROUP:
The transition into middle school can bring a lot of excitement — and a lot of nerves! Friendships shift. Emotions get bigger. Self-doubt and anxiety often grow louder. Many girls begin questioning themselves in ways they never have before.

This group is designed to help girls navigate the social and emotional transition into middle school with more confidence, self-awareness, skills, and connection. Together, we’ll explore topics such as:

❋ Friendship dynamics & social stress
❋ Communication skills
❋ Comparison & fitting in
❋ Identity & belonging
❋ Boundaries & self-advocacy
❋ Coping with transitions & change

Before the group begins, I also send out a form to invite both girls and parents/guardians to submit any specific questions, concerns, or topics they would especially like support around. My goal is for the group to feel relevant and genuinely responsive to the real experiences you and the girls are navigating.

Group FAQs

  • This group blends both emotional support and practical skill-building. We will absolutely talk about coping skills and emotional regulation, but the group also creates space for deeper conversations about friendships, anxiety, confidence, identity, and the transition into middle school.

  • While every session will look a little different, groups are designed to be interactive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate — not just sitting in a circle talking the entire time.

Depending on the week and the needs of the group, we may incorporate conversation activities, creative exercises, art, journaling, games, role-playing, movement, mindfulness, drama-based activities, nervous system regulation tools, and other experiential activities designed to help girls build confidence, connection, emotional insight, and coping skills in ways that feel natural and engaging.

The goal is to create a space that feels supportive, meaningful, and genuinely enjoyable — while still helping girls grow emotionally and socially.

  • That is incredibly common — especially for this age group. I work intentionally to create a warm, welcoming environment where girls can participate at their own pace. No one is forced to share before they feel ready.

  • Absolutely. In fact, I love the idea that girls may move through this experience alongside someone they already know and trust! It can help create shared language, connection, and support outside of the group as well.

At the same time, I’m also thoughtful about overall group dynamics and making sure no girl enters the group feeling isolated or like the “odd one out.” My goal is for the group to feel welcoming, connected, and emotionally safe for everyone involved.

If you already have a group of 4–6 girls who know each other and would like to participate together, feel free to reach out directly. I’d be happy to discuss creating a group experience tailored specifically to your girls and their needs.

  • I completely understand that vacations, illnesses, and scheduling conflicts can come up. That said, because groups build connection and trust over time, I recommend signing up only if you believe your daughter will be able to attend at least 6 out of the 8 sessions. Consistency helps both the individual experience and the overall group dynamic.

Please note that the practice’s standard 24-hour cancellation policy does apply to group sessions as well. Sessions cancelled within 24 hours are charged the full session fee.

  • Because trust, consistency, and group cohesion are such important parts of the experience, girls will remain in the same group for the duration of the series whenever possible. Each group develops its own dynamic and sense of connection over time.

That said, I understand that scheduling conflicts and life circumstances sometimes arise. If needed, I’m always happy to have a conversation and see what might make the most sense on a case-by-case basis.

  • Parents will receive general updates about themes and skills covered in the group, but the privacy of group members is also respected. My goal is to help girls feel emotionally safe enough to participate honestly while still keeping parents appropriately informed and involved.
